Where can I use my card with Visa Contactless or my Visa Micro Tag?
You can use Visa Contactless at any merchant displaying the Visa Contactless symbol on the terminal readers.
Are there any fees for using Visa Contactless?
Your financial institution should disclose any applicable fees during the application process.
Is my information safe when paying with Visa Contactless?
Visa Contactless transactions are just as secure as magnetic stripe transactions and are processed through the same reliable payment network. And, because you remain in control of your payment device during Visa payWave transactions, the risk of fraud is reduced.
Can my card with Visa Contactless or my Visa Micro Tag be accidentally read by the secure reader if it's in my purse or pocket?
To authorize a payment, you must wave your card or Visa Micro Tag directly within 1 to 2 inches of a secure reader that accepts Visa Contactless payments. It also has to be correctly oriented for the transaction to go through. Only readers at authorized merchants can process the information on the Visa Micro Tag and Visa cards with Visa Contactless.
How am I protected if my card with Visa Contactless or my Visa Micro Tag is lost or stolen?
The Visa Contactless feature provides cardholders the same protections as standard Visa cards. You'll enjoy the peace of mind that comes from multiple layers of Visa security.
What is the Visa Micro Tag, and how does it work?
The Visa Micro Tag is Visa’s first payment device designed exclusively for Visa Contactless payments. It is far smaller than a traditional card - small enough to hang on your key ring. Shortwave radio technology is embedded inside a durable key fob, so that it’s even easier to get to your payment device.
Will this affect my existing Visa relationship?
No. Visa Contactless is an added feature that financial institutions may offer to their Visa cardholders.
Is this a "Chip Card"?
Visa Contactless is a form of chip card technology. Like chip cards, it uses an advanced computer chip embedded in the card's plastic to perform secure transactions.
What do I do if I can’t complete my contactless transaction?
First, make sure that the merchant accepts Visa Contactless - you should see the contactless symbol on the payment terminal. If the merchant accepts contactless and the transaction still fails, Visa card and Mini Card users can swipe to pay, since both of these devices have magnetic stripe functionality in addition to contactless.
