Miami, Florida – August 12, 2022. The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ will bring the excitement of football to fans around the world in just 100 days. Visa, the official payment services partner of the FIFA World Cup™, will continue to facilitate experiences that bring people throughout the Latin America and Caribbean region closer to the games in Qatar.

Visa has been a global FIFA sponsor since 2007 and, as the official payment services partner of the FIFA World Cup™, joins football fans in the sporting event that has the power to connect people around the world through a common passion.

"At Visa, we are proud to be an official FIFA World Cup™ partner and to be part of the excitement it generates every four years, both in the stadiums and when keeping up with the matches from the different regions of the world, especially from ours," said Dario Cutin, Vice President of Communications for Visa Latin America and the Caribbean. "Our partnership with FIFA gives cardholders the opportunity to live unique and exclusive experiences that bring them even closer to the sport. Together with our issuers and business partners, we are carrying out innovative campaigns that bring fans from the region closer to opportunities to attend the FIFA World Cup 2022™”.

As part of its commitment to connect the world to build an open and inclusive economy, Visa seeks to continually innovate to make it easier for everyone to access fast, safe and convenient ways to pay. Contactless (or Tap to Pay) payment technology, for example, enables a fast and convenient way to pay for everyday purchases.

As of June 2022, about 45% of all face-to-face payment transactions made with Visa credentials in Latin America and the Caribbean were made with contactless technology. This technology, which will be present at the FIFA World Cup 2022™, will add convenience and security to the experience of fans traveling to Qatar to live the games up close. As of June 2022, 78% of face-to-face transactions made with Visa credentials in Qatar were made with contactless technology.

Throughout the FIFA World Cup™ in Qatar, attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about Visa's technologies and innovations and participate in interactive experiences. Visa is constantly developing new payment technologies to create the best fan experience and make experiences at FIFA events fast, safe and convenient, so fans can focus on enjoying the games and activities.
